Coconut water

Hi!

As I mentioned before, it is very important to hydrate your body during the workout. Today, I’ll be writing about it with a little different, more natural approach. I’m quite sure that there are people who care about their health as much as I do. As we all know, energetic drinks contain a lot of chemical ingredients, so if you really want to drink such, please do it rarely. Have you heard about coconut water that hydrates about 10 times better that a regular isotonic drink? The biggest advantage of this drink is a very rich source of electrolytes, providing a fast hydration. A great advantage of drinking coconut water is its amount of natural bioactive enzymes that positively affect digestive processes. Drinking coconut water helps to stop producing oxidative stress in the kidneys, and as a result, protects them and prevents form tumors. One of the best ingredients of coconut water is kinetin which slows the aging process of the skin. Did you know that this unique drink is Madonna’s favorite? Drinking it can definitely help to lower the cholesterol level and a high blood pressure. In addition to this, it helps to accelerate wound healing and to maintain a good blood level. Also, drinking coconut water improves eyesight. All of these advantages seem to be important not only for diabetics, but for everyone. It tastes great when it’s cooled, but you can also use it for a cocktail as a base; it’s a perfect idea for a summer drink! The carbohydrate content of the product is  5-8 g. /100 ml. The best way to do is to drink it gradually through all the day, since you don’t need to think about dosing insulin. The only drawback is its price, 500 ml costs about 10 PLN. Despite this fact, I’m convinced it’s so good for our health that it’s worth to drink it.

What about you, have you ever tried it?
What do you think about coconut water?
All the best! :)

Dosing insulin during the workout (an insulin pump)

Hi!

I often hear that so-called “a sweet sportsman” doesn’t know how to dose insulin properly during the workout. Besides, some diabetics may not know how to react and what to do to avoid hypoglycemia. First, you need to answer the question: when do you plan your training? What will be its length and intensity? Remember that preparing for a training looks different, depending if you want your workout to be done in the morning, or later. As you know, a human’s liver
releases the largest amount of glucose in the morning throughout the day. At this time you shouldn’t lower the basic dosage of insulin. It is also important to remember that if you want to eat some carbohydrates before the workout, I believe that at least 50% of the calculated dose of insulin (1WW/1 u.) should be given. If you plan a workout during the afternoons or in the evenings, dosing insulin looks completely different. In this case, it is even allowed to disconnect an insulin pump, lower the basic dose by 50%, or have 2-3 WW for those you don’t have insulin; leaving the base at a steady level. No matter what you decide, you should check your insulin level always before your workout and after it. Over time, you will know your body better and better and the body itself will know how to act and react in the best way. The last thing: always have some easy-absorbing carbohydrates with you.

Good luck with your “sweet workouts” :)

Hydration and replenishing electrolytes during the workout.

Hi!

Hydration during the training plays a significant role. Unfortunately, many of us drink too little fluids during the day. As you probably know, one should drink 2.5 liters of water daily, and 1 ml is 1 kcal. What’s more, if we train, we need a larger amount of water to drink. If the level of metabolism becomes higher, the rate of heat generation in the working muscles can increase even up to 100 times, resulting in a temperature increase in the muscles: 34-36°C in repose, and 37-39°C in the first 3-4 minutes of the training. It is the reason why you should never let your body be dehydrated and always have a bottle of water with you.

Each time I’m going to work out, I take two water bottles. In the first there’s water that I can always drink, whereas in another there’s a regenerating drink that contains important carbohydrates which level during your workout naturally falls (hypoglycemia). Drinking such a drink can always help you to replenish carbohydrates. Therefore, such electrolytes as sodium, potassium, chloride or magnesium should be properly replenished since they are removed with sweat. However, if you don’t feel the need to take care about the level of them during the workout, it would be worth to balance them with your diet. Always remember to drink water when you’re working out. Otherwise, you’ll be dehydrated so if you feel the increased thirst, it’s a signal from your body that you’re already dehydrated. You should avoid such situations. The loss of 1l of sweat causes a loss of 2.9g of sodium chloride, so if one trains once or twice a day, he will lose approximately 15g of salt, losing 5 liters of sweat. At the very different values of daily intake of NaCl, the lower use of salt is not always justified. Dehydration, acidification, oxygen deficit and depletion of energy substrates are the main causes of fatigue. When it comes to my training, in the first hour of a workout I drink water, in another I drink a regenerating drink not only because I already drank a bottle of water but I start feeling muscle cramps. Also, the level of glucose begins to drop down below 100 mg%. The best thing to do is to avoid such situations.  You can read more on the website <link>

What does sport mean to me?

Hi!

It is no surprise that sport has recently become very popular. Many of us on the way to or from work  can easily notice at least one person working out. Some people train recreationally, some want to increase their fitness level or muscle strength, while others want to prepare themselves for sports competitions. Seeing how people train make me very glad because no matter what their goal is, there’s one everyone has in common- it’s passion. Yes. Passion. It should become a passion in order not to be just a duty, something you feel you have to do.

My beginnings with sport started with.. a heartbreak, and all the emotions I had to deal with. The first step was to cycle 6 kilometers, being my debut. It was an amazing and a fantastic feeling, despite the fact it was very hard, I felt something I hadn’t felt before. I discovered and awoke something hidden deep inside me for many years. Once, Galileo said: “You cannot teach a man anything. You can only help him to find it in himself..”. Beginnings are not usually easy, and what’s more, we often tend to be just lazy and choose easy options. As I mentioned before, it was a heartbreak that motivated me for working out. I was crying into my beer, being constantly sad and depressed. However, I tried to change it. I began with one hour of exercises a day, during which all the emotions, work, a cell phone were left behind. At first, I was really struggling with myself, but after some period of time I felt so satisfied because I started feeling like nothing else matters.. Sport has and always will be an integral part of my life. I want to share with you with all the experience I’ve been gaining as it’s brought me to the moment at which I’m now. Since sport has become a part of my life I decided to become a personal trainer.

The psychosocial assets, as well as our health, are extremely important. Health, especially for diabetics should be something that we care about. Finishing writing this post, I need to tell you something that I’m really proud of: since I began to exercise, the correct presence of a normal concentration of glucose in my blood is 80%, whereas the level of Hba1c (the approximate concentration of glucose in the blood from the last three months) is 6,5%. Also, the need of using insulin has diminished by 50%.

How did you begin your adventure with sport?
Or maybe you’re just about to do something with it?

Take care of your muscles!

Hi!

The fall has already come, days are becoming colder and colder. Then, it is extremely important to take care of the way you’re dressed outdoors. Also, you should also pay more attention about your muscles, how to care and regenerate them properly. Recently, I’ve been using Sportsbalm cosmetics. There’s a great variety of products, including regenerating lotions used after the training, or three heating gels when temperatures are between 10-18°C, 5-10°C, and below 5°C. This selection helps to keep muscles warm through all the year, any time you decide to train. If you want your workout to be more effective and to slow down the process of lactic acid formation, you can also use muscle energize oils. They may also reduce the unpleasant feeling of muscles soreness. If you want to take care of your muscles and also to have a beautiful skin complexion, you should use bronzing  oils that are available to buy. I’m very satisfied using Sportsbalm cosmetics, since when I begin training my muscles warm much faster what shortens the time of a warm-up that I’m not so fond of. After the training I use a regenerating lotion  that stimulates and nourishes the skin. For those who have problems with frictions that appear during the trainings there are two skin-protecting balms. Using these should be essential, especially by people who suffer from diabetes.

Introduction.

Hi!

If you decided to see what my blog is about, it can mean that you may also suffer from diabetes just like I do, and that you are interested in sports or a healthy lifestyle that can give you not only a lot of positive energy but also make you much healthier, happier, and conscious about what you eat and how you live.

Diabetes that will be in your life forever, doesn’t have to be your enemy. On the contrary, it can become your “good spirit” that will lead you if just let it. It is extremely important for you to make the first step to change something, and remember that it doesn’t have to be a painful path. It is absolutely normal that people are afraid of changes, it usually causes fear but this feeling is only something that is just in our heads. Every day, many people struggle with their problems and all of them seem to be different. Nowadays, we live in the world that is filled with stress, pressure and in the middle of this chaotic life, there’s also something known as diabetes which plays an important role in it… It is no surprise that it is related to loneliness, caused by lack of acceptance and sympathy or even the feeling of a permanent battle. I perfectly know what it means to feel that way as I’ve experienced all of this, and on the basis of my personal experience I can assure you that diabetes may help you to lead a healthy lifestyle just in the way is helping me right now.

I was 10 when I was diagnosed as diabetic. Now, I’m 31 years old and when I’m thinking about that time I’m smiling. Why? I’ll explain it a little bit later J
Over the last years, I’ve finished studying and I’m running a business now. I love sports and traveling, and my greatest passion is cycling, especially road racing.
However, a lot of things had happened before I got where I’m now. I’ve been through many difficult situations in which I felt not only angry, unaccepted, but lonely, as well. There is a saying: “Everyone has their own Everest”, meaning that everyone has their own struggles to overcome in life. However, it is always easier to fight with our problems with someone who is beside us, and supports us when it’s really hard. I encourage you to read my blog, and I will try to share with you with everything that life has taught me to enjoy and how to live when you’re a diabetic person. I hope that by reading my blog you will begin to treat diabetes as something normal, being a part of your life.
